About the Computer Science Instructional Facility

The Computer Science Instructional Facility, CSIF, is located in the West wing of Kemper Hall in the basement. The exact rooms are room 47, 53, 67, 69, 71, and 75 with the CSIF Support being in room 47. The CSIF's major goal is to provide systems that will be used in Computer Science courses.

The CSIF offers a variety of systems, equipped with Ethernet access, that UC Davis students (taking CS classes) may use. The CSIF Support Staff, located in room 47 of Kemper Hall, provide technical support for the facilities.

Linux

The CSIF offers three models of PC that run Fedora 11.

There are about 30 Generic Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0 Ghz machines with 3 GB of RAM and a Nvidia GeForce GTS250 video card in 75 Kemper.

There are about 30 Dell Intel Xeon 3.0 Ghz workstations with 3 GB of RAM and onboard graphics in 71 Kemper.

There are about 30 Generic Intel Pentium IV 3.0GHz machines with 2GB of RAM and a GeForce 6600 video card in 67 Kemper.
